Brittany Parnell spends her days guiding new students to success as an academic advisor in S&T’s Advising Center. She enjoys helping new students transition to life as a Miner. Going from high school to college life can be challenging, but she makes a difference helping students succeed and stepping into their potential.

As an academic advisor, Brittany meets with first-year and transfer students who are pursuing engineering or computer science degrees. She helps them navigate resources, advises them on curricular interests, and teaches them strong study and time-management skills. Academic advisors seek to recognize when students may be struggling academically or personally and work to intervene early to help them succeed in their course work.

Brittany worked in the registrar’s office before joining the Advising Center. One of her favorite memories was a visit to the experimental mine during a staff retreat. While detonating a small explosive, a teammate got to yell “Fire in the hole!”
