S&T student, alumni elected to IEEE board

Elanor Jackson, Dr. M. Ryan Bales and Amy K. Jones have been elected to the IEEE-Eta Kappa NU (IEEE-HKN) Board of Governors. They are graduates of Missouri S&T and were elected to HKN through the S&T HKN honor society chapter. The board governs the international honor society for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 

  • Dr. M. Ryan Bales, a graduate of S&T with a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, will join the board as president-elect for 2023, president for 2024 and past-president for 2025. He is a principal research engineer with Georgia Tech Research Institute. He also earned a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech. 
  • Elanor Jackson, a computer engineering graduate student, will serve as a student representative and a voting member for the 2023 calendar year. She received her bachelor’s in computer engineering from S&T in May 2022. 
  • Amy K. Jones, a graduate of S&T with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, will serve as governor-at-large for 2023-2025. She is a manager for John Deere and received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University.
