Rick Johns, construction project manager for design, construction and space management, is retiring after serving Missouri S&T for 23 years. His last day is Tuesday, Jan. 3.
A retirement reception with light refreshments will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Hasselmann Alumni House. Faculty and staff that know and worked with Johns are invited to stop by during that time.
“Rick has been such a valuable team member in the department over the years,” says Fred Stone, director of design, construction and space management. “His devoted efforts, positive attitude, and extensive experience will be greatly missed. Rick takes great pride in the success of his projects, and he has been instrumental in the execution of so many key projects for S&T.”
In 1999, Johns joined S&T as a carpenter for design and construction management and he was promoted to supervisor of skilled trades in 2011. Johns was instrumental in transforming many spaces at S&T through his oversight of dozens of renovation and construction projects. In 2015, he accepted the position of construction project manager and he made major contributions to the development of the Arrival District and Tim Bradley Way as the construction project manager for the projects.
