Best paper award goes to Burken and Bagheri

Environmental Science and Technology, an environmental publication from the American Chemical Society, awarded its 2021 best paper award to “Machine Learning: New Ideas and Tools in Environmental Science and Engineering.”
Dr. Joel Burken, chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, and Dr. Majid Bagheri, who earned a Ph.D. in civil engineering in 2021, coauthored the publication along with colleagues from several other institutions.
The article was featured as the cover story in August 2021. It explores machine learning’s potential to revolutionize data analysis and modeling in the environmental science and engineering field and covers the essential knowledge needed for such applications.
