Academy women hold networking event

The S&T Academy of Civil Engineers women and alumni invite all students to network and learn about the industry and the engineering profession 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Room 314 Butler-Carlton Hall. Seating is limited. To RSVP, email Kaylie Dean, office support assistant for civil, architectural and environmental engineering, at k.dean@mst.edu by Friday, Nov. 11.

The event features a wide range of discussion topics:

  • Early-career challenges and opportunities.
  • Unique career paths, including academia, government and international opportunities.
  • Leadership and career advancement.
  • Workplace challenges.

At noon the same day, S&T alumna, academy member, Miner Legend and Women’s Hall of Fame inductee LaWanda Jones will speak with all civil, architectural and environmental engineering seniors. Jones is a corporate marketing manager for ABNA Engineering Inc. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Missouri S&T in 1991, an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2007 and a community development degree from Saint Louis University in 2008.
