Texas A&M provost to speak on importance of diversity

Dr. Karan Watson, Regents’ Professor of electrical engineering and the first female provost to serve at Texas A&M, will present the first S&T ADVANCE Program’s distinguished lecture 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Kinyon-Koeppel Grand Hall of Hasselmann Alumni House.
Watson will discuss the importance and value of creating a diverse and inclusive working environment at STEM institutions, and why successful universities must minimize inherent bias within the hiring, development and promotion processes for faculty. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend. A reception will follow the lecture.
