Dr. Hongyan Ma, associate professor of civil engineering, and Dr. Mahelet Fikru, associate professor of economics, have been awarded $250,000 from the Partnerships for Innovation Program sponsored by National Science Foundation. The award supports the first phase of their project to address market needs, including upcycling negative-value solid wastes, addressing the shortage of supplementary cement materials, and facilitating large-scale carbon dioxide use in concrete production.
