The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is becoming more accessible with a three-digit phone number: 9-8-8. Starting Saturday, July 16, you can dial 9-8-8 on any phone and have 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors.

Other resources include:

  • If you would prefer to text, contact the Crisis Text Line by texting “talk” to 741-741.
  • Chat online at suicidepreventionlifeline.org/chat.
On campus, speak with a licensed counselor in a crisis situation or schedule an appointment with the student well-being office 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday by calling 573-341-4211 or visit 204 Norwood Hall.
  • Outside of office hours or in emergencies, contact 911 or the University Police at 573-341-4300.

If you are concerned about the wellbeing of a student, you can fill out a UCARE referral form by visiting go.mst.edu/ucare-refer. This form allows a trained committee of university employees to reach out to the student and provide help and resources. Please note that filling out a UCARE referral should not be used in an active crisis or an emergency.
