The 21st Annual Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference will be held Friday, Sept. 23, at Missouri S&T. EYH helps seventh and eighth grade girls learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The event brings more than 450 Missouri students to campus.

The Kummer Center for STEM Education is looking for engaging hands-on workshop activities, performed on a seventh and eighth grade level, that will inspire and encourage girls to think about STEM education and careers. Each workshop will be 50 minutes in length on the topic of the presenter’s choice and a hands-on activity is recommended.

Each workshop will have 12-18 students per session and will be conducted two times, at 10:10-11 a.m. and 11:10 a.m.-noon. A complimentary lunch will be provided to workshop volunteers. This is an excellent community and education outreach for grant requirements. Due to limited space on campus, workshops are being sought early for planning purposes.

For more information or to sign-up as a workshop presenter, please contact Dr. Michelle Pipes, senior student support specialist for the Kummer Center for STEM Education, at michellepipes@mst.edu or 573-341-4835.
