The S&T Information Technology (IT) Division redeploy computer program has been depleted of inventory and cannot be reinstated. The redeploy computer program provided older computers free to users on campus that do not receive an IT-provided computer due to being in a part-time employee or student employee. Redeploy computers were usable computers that had completed their service as a desktop enhancement (DE) for a full-time employee or a computer learning center (CLC) computer. IT currently has fewer than 10 redeploy computers in stock and anticipates that stock to be fully depleted soon.

The redeploy computer program cannot be reinstated because of the following reasons: –

• The hold on the DE program and the CLC replacement lifecycle plan for the previous two years
• Previous DE program’s 5-year replacement lifecycle timeline
• Budget reductions
• COVID-19 campus closure
• Remote work policy changes
• Transition to laptops for remote work capabilities.

Requests for a redeploy computer are still possible, while inventory allows, based on a thorough review of the business case included in each request.
