Greater Sacramento, California, is the most at-risk region in America for catastrophic flooding, relying on an aging system of levees, weirs and bypasses and Folsom Dam to reduce its flood risk. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with local agencies to further reduce the flood risk, particularly from erosion. Lacey Venhaus and James Wallace of the St. Louis District Corps of Engineers will discuss the design work done toward mitigating flood risk on the Sacramento River. Bring a lunch and join us at noon Monday, May 2, in Room 121 of Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall or on Zoom.
