Dr. David Enke, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of engineering management and systems engineering, was listed in a recently published review paper as one of the most cited researchers using machine learning techniques for stock market forecasting. The extensive review, published in Expert Systems with Applications (ESWA), considered research contributions from 2000-2019, listing highly cited articles that had an impact on the field during this period.

Enke, along with his collaborators, had seven articles discussed in the review, the most of any researcher highlighted. Contributions were listed for using artificial neural networks and deep learning for stock price forecasting, as well as fuzzy logic and PCA-based clustering for feature selection. ESWA is one of the top academic journals for researchers publishing finance and investment applications that utilize machine learning and computational intelligence.
