Anyone is welcome to try out! Students must be a full-time student and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Select is based on the leading scores from the spring tryout. Should you make the team, there is an annual team fee that is required by all athletes. Fees will cover the cost of camp, team jackets, shoes, etc. Team fees are done in a tiered approach based on seniority. The fees are as follows: 1st year: $400, 2nd year: $300, 3rd+ year(s): $200.

Specific team requirements are as follows and any ability beyond will be scored appropriately.
Cheerleading: Toe Touch, Herkie, Roundolf, Motion Technique/Sharpness, Stunts: Extension, Liberty, optional partner stunts.

Dance Team: Double Pirouette, Turns in Second, Toe Touch, Split Leap, Calypso, Center Leap, Kickline Technique, Pom Motion Technique/Sharpness

What is the time commitment?
Summer UCA/UDA camp is scheduled for late July and is mandatory for all Spirit Team members.
Pre-season practices begin during Freshman Orientation week. All members are required to attend. Schedules will be adjusted not to interfere with other Freshman activities.
Regular season consists of practice 2-3 times per week for 2-3 hours a practice and all home football and basketball games. Football season is usually 5 or 6 Saturdays in the fall. Basketball games are typically on Thursdays and Saturdays beginning in November and continuing through mid-March with about 15 games total. Athletes will not participate in athletic events during the Winter Break.
Additional athletic and student events on campus may be required by all members to support many community events as the face of the university.

Clinics: 8:30am-12pm; 1-4pm
Formal Judging: 6pm
