Searches will begin soon for three vice provost and dean positions at Missouri S&T, with plans to have those academic leaders in place before the start of the fall 2022 semester.

Provost Colin Potts is working with the University of Missouri System’s executive search team and search firm Buffkin and Baker to plan and carry out the searches for the vice provost and dean of:

  • The College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.  Dr. Kathleen Drowne has served as interim dean since July 1, 2019, and continues to lead the college during the search. “Kate has been a wonderful interim dean for four years, and S&T owes her immense gratitude,” Potts says.
  • The College of Engineering and Computing.  Dr. Richard W. Wlezien, vice provost and dean since Aug. 1, 2017, will continue to serve through next August, when he will return to a faculty appointment in mechanical and aerospace engineering. “Rich has been a great colleague as I have come on board, and I’m delighted that he will remain on the faculty of the mechanical and aerospace engineering department,” says Potts.
  • The Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.  This is the university’s newest college, established through the $300 million gift from the late Fred Kummer and his wife, June.

More information about these searches will be coming soon.
