You can be a light and help prevent suicide. Stop by a booth to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, outside Havener Center. The booth is hosted by student well-being staff and Delta Sigma Phi members.

You’re encouraged to take time to learn about available resources and how you can make a difference in the lives of those around you. Take the “Ask, Listen, Refer” training at asklistenrefer.org/mst to learn more ways to support someone experiencing thoughts of suicide.

Save the following numbers in your phone in case of a crisis:

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Press 1 for veterans.
  • ACI Hotline for Phelps County, 888-237-4567
  • Crisis Text Line, text MOSAFE to 741741
  • National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)
  • Trevor Project, 24/7 lifeline for LGBTQ+ concerns, 1-866-488-7386.

Remember, you can be the one to help save a life with these five steps:
1. Ask
2. Be there
3. Keep them safe
4. Help them connect
5. Follow up.
