Dr. Hu Yang, chair of chemical and biochemical engineering, has been named director of S&T’s Center for Biomedical Research. His appointment begins Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Dr. Costas Tsatsoulis, vice chancellor of research and graduate studies, sent the following message to the S&T research community:
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dr. Hu Yang, chair of the chemical and biochemical engineering department at Missouri S&T, has been named the Director of the Center for Biomedical Research, CBR, effective September 1, 2021. The CBR investigators offered very strong support to Dr. Yang, and I look forward to working with him and the CBR-affiliated faculty, students, and staff to continue to grow Biomedical Research at S&T.
I also want to express my deep appreciation to Dr. Richard Brow, whose able leadership as CBR Director served our University since 2017.
Yang came to Rolla from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in August 2020, where he was the Qimonda Endowed Chair in chemical and life science engineering, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceutics.”
“I am honored and humbled to accept the director position for the Center for Biomedical Research (CBR). CBR is a fantastic platform for convergence research centered on development of next generation of biomaterials, biomedical devices and nanomedicine. I would like to promote interdisciplinary collaborations and research activities in medicine and lead the center to become a translational research hub,” says Dr. Hu Yang.”
