The University of Missouri Library Council of Deans, in conjunction with the University of Missouri System integrated library system (ILS) task force, announces that FOLIO has been selected as the new integrated library system. Migration will begin in September, and the system will be fully operational by next summer.

“We are excited about this opportunity to work with EBSCO as we transition to FOLIO,” says Dr. Oliver Chen, dean of S&T’s Curtis Laws Wilson Library. “We view FOLIO as a forward-thinking, next-generation, open-source system that will allow for growth and customization for the UM System as well as the individual campuses.”

Chen thanks the library staff at all four universities in the UM System for providing insight and feedback. The task force includes:

  • Stephanie Chinn, librarian at S&T
  • Jaleh Fazelian, associate dean of the library at UMSL
  • Corrie Hutchinson, co-chair of the task force and associate university librarian for acquisitions, collections and technical services at MU
  • Buddy Pennington, librarian and head of electronic resources and systems at UMKC
  • Taylor Kenkel, co-chair of the task force and technical services librarian at MU
  • Ernest Shaw, manager of library technology services at MU.

“The transition to FOLIO will impact almost every facet of the library’s operations,” Chen says. “We must begin planning for and documenting processes to have a successful rollout and implementation, and we thank the task force for leading this coming phase. We look forward to working together to create a new, vibrant system that will be of use to the UM community.”
