Chemical Reviews Cover

The cover highlights shape engineering of porous solids such as adsorbents and catalysts via additive manufacturing (3D-printing) into structured configurations that can exhibit comparable performance to that of powder parents, while addressing the drawbacks associated with the traditional configurations when operated at large scale.

Led by Dr. Fateme Rezaei and Dr. Ali Rownaghi, a research group at S&T was invited to write an article for the Chemical Reviews journal. The journal has an impact factor of 52.728. Their article is illustrated on the cover of the journal’s May 26 issue.

The paper is titled “Recent Advances in 3-D Printing of Structured Materials for Adsorption and Catalysis Applications.” Authors are:

  • Dr. Shane Lawson, who earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from S&T in 2021
  • Dr. Xin Li, who earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from S&T in 2018
  • Dr. Harshul Thakkar, who earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from S&T in 2017
  • Dr. Ali Rownaghi, assistant teaching professor of chemical and biochemical engineering
  • Dr. Fateme Rezaei, associate professor of chemical and biochemical engineering.

The researchers were invited based on their pioneering work in 3-D printing to formulate nanoporous materials into scalable contactors for use in a wide variety of energy and environmental applications.
