S&T garners IEEE awards

Electrical engineering students Patrick Mitchell, a junior, and Aaron Burke, a senior, won first place in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 5 Student Ethics Competition during the IEEE Region annual meeting and student competitions held online during in April. Region 5 includes Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and parts of surrounding states.

The IEEE St. Louis Section is presenting its 2020 awards at a virtual ceremony today. Missouri S&T’s electrical and computer engineering department received several honors:

  • Outstanding Organization: electrical and computer engineering department
  • Outstanding Student Organization: Gamma Theta Chapter of IEEE-HKN
  • Outstanding IEEE Graduate Student: Chen Zhu
  • Outstanding Educator: Dr. Kristen Donnell, associate professor
  • Outstanding Branch Counselor: Dr. Maciej Zawodniok, associate professor
  • Woman in Engineering: Dr. Theresa Swift, associate teaching professor.
