The theater section of the arts, languages and philosophy department will hold auditions by appointment for “Heathers: The Musical” noon-4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, in the Black Box Theatre in Room 143 Castleman Hall. Auditions are open to S&T students, faculty and staff with all levels of theater experience.
To schedule an audition, email Taylor Gruenloh at gruenloht@mst.edu. He is director of the performance and an assistant teaching professor of arts, languages and philosophy.
Auditions will be scheduled in 15-minute time slots. Individuals are required to wear face coverings and follow university guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Please prepare 16-32 bars from a song to sing for auditions. Bring sheet music for the accompanist to play or prepare an accompanying music track to play on your phone while you sing. Be prepared to perform a cold read from a section of the script. Readers will be on site to read with individuals auditioning. No dancing or movement component is planned at the audition.
Prepare a resume indicating your previous stage experience and your history with dance and movement. Include your preferred contact information and any major schedule conflicts for the fall. If you don’t have any previous experience creating a theater resume, it can be a simple Word document.
Rehearsals will begin the first week of September, and the rehearsal calendar will be created around cast availability. If you are cast, you’ll be required to attend all technical rehearsals and performances.
“Heathers: The Musical” will be performed at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, in Leach Theatre.
