Licensed to thrive – grad student earns PMP and PE credentials

Ali Al-Khafaji, a Ph.D. student in civil engineering and GAANN fellow, recently passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam and his professional engineering (PE) exam. The PMP certification requires not only education, but also three years of professional experience.

Active in the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Al-Khafaji serves as a committee voting member on ACI 440L. He is also an associate member of ACI 440. Al-Khafaji has had 17 papers published with three currently under review and two under development.

Al-Khafaji earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with honors from Baghdad University. He earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas and a second master’s degree in engineering management from Ohio University. Al-Khafaji expects to graduate from Missouri S&T in 2021. His research interests include advanced and sustainable concrete and composites for structural engineering purposes.
