Sports information director named to hall of fame

CoSIDA Hall of Fame

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) will induct John Kean into its 2021 Hall of Fame. Kean has served as S&T’s sports information director for more than 30 years.

John Kean

Kean joined the Miner athletic department in 1990 and has been responsible for the athletic communications and promotions of 17 sports in the department. He has spent countless hours writing press releases, updating student-athlete statistics, managing the website and various social media platforms as well as numerous other responsibilities enhancing and sharing Miner athletics with the community. He has served in various roles at the conference, regional and national level. Kean is currently a liaison to the National Basketball Coaches Association Division II men’s basketball poll and maintains men’s basketball website for the division.

“John has a passion for athletics and is committed to accurately publicizing the accomplishments of our student-athletes, coaches and staff,” says Melissa Ringhausen, director of athletics. “He is a solid rock in the department and well respected by his colleagues at S&T as well as many other coaches and administrators throughout the country. He is truly deserving of this honor.”
