Virtual open forums with two finalists for the position of the Gary Havener Endowed Chair of mathematics and statistics will be held this week. Faculty and staff are welcome to attend the forums, which will be held as follows:

• 3-4:20 p.m. Monday, March 29, on Zoom, for Dr. Jichun Li, professor of mathematical sciences at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The Zoom meeting ID is 914 8755 5172 and the passcode is 312477.

• 3-4:20 p.m. Thursday, April 1, on Zoom, for Dr. Jinqiao Duan, professor of applied mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology. The Zoom meeting ID is 918 0208 6778 and the passcode is 637151.

Both forums will be split into two parts, with the candidate first describing their research interests and then addressing research opportunities and how the department can become more relevant in scholarship to the campus. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
