Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science, has been elected to the board of the new Missouri chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). The Missouri chapter features the only all-women board among the chapters of ARCE.

The Missouri chapter aims to celebrate and share the culture and history of Egypt, from the ancient through Islamic periods. The focus is outreach and education, making Ancient Egypt more accessible. Members educate others through lectures, workshops, tours and social events. The events are led by top scholars and specialists in Egyptology, Coptic and Islamic studies.

The chapter strives to find speakers and topics which are accessible, interesting and fun for all audiences. Members also strive to provide a community in which institutions, professionals in the field, and non-professionals of all ages can share their knowledge, interest and love for Egypt.
