Sarangapani named interim ISC director

It is with great pleasure that Vice Chancellor of Research, Dr. Costas Tsatsoulis, announces that Dr. Jagannathan “Jag” Sarangapani has been named as the new interim director of the Intelligent Systems Center. Dr. Donald Wunsch, the Mary Finley Missouri Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, who served as interim director of the Intelligent Systems Center (ISC) since 2020, will be stepping down as director on March 1 to pursue a position at the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Sarangapani is the Rutledge-Emerson Professor in Electrical Engineering. His key research interests are sensors, learning & control; cyber-physical systems & security; resilience/prognostics; autonomous systems/robotics. He joined UMR/S&T in 2001 and also serves as Director of the Embedded Systems and Networking Laboratory. He received many awards, such as NSF CAREER, and funding from AFOSR, ARL, ARO, NSF, ONR, and various industrial entities, and supervised over 30 doctoral students. His former doctoral students won NSF CAREER Awards.
