Following two days of campus being closed due to weather conditions, Missouri S&T reopened yesterday (Feb. 17). Above, groundskeeper Mark Puzach plows a sidewalk outside Centennial Hall.
In the early morning hours, S&T’s custodial and landscape crews start their workdays by clearing steps and treating areas around campus to provide as safe conditions as possible.
“The sub-zero temperatures have really affected our equipment and treatment efforts,” says Randy Davis, senior assistant director of custodial and landscape services. “We will continue to work areas this week and be back to normal next week.”
Davis estimates the crews have used 22,000 pounds of calcium chloride and 100,000 pounds of road salt so far in their treatment efforts.
