Infrastructure policy to be discussed at Wednesday lecture

S&T’s American Society of Civil Engineers Chapter (ASCE) will host a lecture titled “Influencing US Policy to Modernize our Infrastructure” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, on Zoom at https://bit.ly/3dr6TrB. The lecture is part of a celebration of Engineers Week 2021.
Kristina Swallow, director of Nevada DOT and past ASCE president, will discuss how elected officials and decisionmakers grapple with issues like modernizing infrastructure and improving community resilience. She will also discuss how the next generation of civil engineers is needed to weigh in these issues, and how ASCE is working to ensure congress and the current administration have the tools and information they need to make strategic investments and create sound infrastructure policy.
