  • St. Louis Post-Dispatch business columnist David Nicklaus interviewed Dr. George Holmes Jr. and Keiry Moreno Bonnett about their start-up company, Hire Henry, for his Dec. 10 column titled “Minority firms struggle in St. Louis. UMSL accelerator hopes to close the gap.” Holmes earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from S&T in 2020 and Bonnett earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2020.
  • Dr. Rainer Glaser, chair and professor of chemistry, was recently featured on Zippia.com as an expert commentator on current job market trends. In the article, “Experts Weigh In on Current Job Market Trends,” Glaser and 10 other U.S. university professors gave their opinions on the effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had on job opportunities, job trends and skills needed for graduates in their fields, and resume content advice.
  • Dr. George Markowsky, professor and associate chair for graduate studies in computer science, participated on a video panel to discuss the life of his friend, Richard Morley, an inventor credited with developing the programmable logic controller. The program, which centered on the 50th anniversary of the PLC, was produced for White House Chronicle and appeared on various television stations across the country and on satellite radio.
