Updates for the S&T community
The arts, languages and philosophy department invites the Spanish-speaking community at S&T to participate in the next “El Conversatorio” event at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, via Zoom.
Guest speaker José Carlos Ramirez Castello will present a talk titled “Peruvian Gastronomy, a Chef’s Experience.”
Castello has been a cook and more recently a chef de cuisine for over 10 years. He earned his degree from the Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Lima, Peru. He currently owns a frozen meal company and consults with restaurant owners on designing kitchens, developing menus and training personnel. His passion for cooking and for rich Peruvian gastronomy started in his abuelita’s (grandmother’s) kitchen with her complex delicacies from the northern part of the country where making good food is considered a higher art.
El Conversatorio is a one-hour informal virtual talk in which guest speakers from different areas of the Spanish-speaking world share their thoughts on current events and issues. After a presentation of 15-20 minutes and a question-and-answer session, participants can join fun activities using breakout rooms in Zoom and practice their Spanish.
