During today’s Board of Curators meeting, Remington Williams, student representative to the board, shared a resolution in appreciation of staff to the Curators.

Members of the Intercampus Student Council and the Intercampus Faculty Cabinet unanimously passed the resolution in October.

The resolution reads:

WHEREAS, countless members of the University Missouri System family have taken swift and significant steps to ensure the continued health and safety of students and faculty alike; making sure necessary precautions and protocols are executed to facilitate a safe and effective scholarly environment.

WHEREAS, professionals across the four universities have demonstrated their commitment to supporting students and faculty; through efforts to maintain clean and safe learning and working environments, the mental health and well-being of the community, and equitable access to necessary technology.

WHEREAS, the facilities staff across the four universities have supported student and faculty engagement, by working to ensure that classrooms and common areas are arranged in a manner to allow for social distancing; addressing logistic and safety issues as they arise; and, through the implementation of clear dividers – and other safety hardware – to ensure safe yet effective collaboration.

WHEREAS, the University’s counseling professionals have provided top-class care to students and faculty during a tumultuous and challenging time, helping to ensure a healthy community in which to work and learn.

WHEREAS, the information technology professionals across the state, who often operate behind the scenes, have been integral to the operations of the University at every level as we have adapted to a socially-distanced world through the use of remote troubleshooting; the offering of countless opportunities for continued education; and, by identifying new tools to facilitate further developments within the academic arena.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Intercampus Student Council and the Intercampus Faculty Cabinet – working jointly on behalf of the students and faculty of the University of Missouri System – do hereby adopt this resolution with sincere gratitude and appreciation for the dutiful work and service on display by staff members of the University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri University of Science and Technology, University of Missouri-St. Louis.
