The S&T campus community is invited to a seminar, “Business Model Innovation in Existing Companies” by Yves Pigneur 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Tuesday, Nov. 17 via zoom: https://umsystem.zoom.us/j/9155547442.
Pigneur, a Swiss computer scientist and professor of management information systems at the University of Lausanne, is internationally known for the Business Model Canvas he invented with Alexander Osterwalder and for his bestselling books, Business Model Generation, Value Proposition Design and The Invincible Company. Thinkers50 ranked Pigneur and Osterwalder #4 in 2019.
In the seminar, Yves Pigneur will describe how to design an innovation culture and portfolio. He will introduce a new concept that helps companies visualize if they are ready for the future. He will also briefly outline business model patterns that allow established companies and startups to compete based on better business models rather than only on new products, technologies, and prices. Pigneur’s talk is sponsored by S&T’s business and information technology department. The department uses his book, Business Model Generation, as a text in the course BUS 5980 Business Models for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Pigneur’s Business Model Canvas is used extensively by S&T’s technology transfer and economic development office.
