The Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM) is accepting applications to its spring 2021 legislative internship. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.

Interns are the front line of UM System students’ representation at the Missouri State Capitol. The legislative team advocates for bills concerned with, among other things, college affordability, voting accessibility, expansion of STEM funding, sexual health, the accessibility of mental health support on college campuses, and the representation of student voices in the governance of our public universities.

Student interns will be registered as lobbyists in the state of Missouri. This program allows for tremendous growth in communication, professionalism, research skills, and knowledge of the political system in Missouri. Past interns have gone on to work for non-profits, consulting firms and lobbying groups across the country.

Upon completion of the program, interns will receive a stipend and travel reimbursements. Interns may receive 3-6 hours of academic credit. However, academic credit is not guaranteed as a matter of participation in this internship program.

Students can learn more at apply online or contact ASUM for more information at asum@umsystem.edu.
