ASCE awards go to S&T student, faculty, alumnus

Students, faculty and alumni of Missouri S&T’s civil, architectural, and environmental engineering department attended the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) regional awards in September.

These are the honorees from S&T:

  • Elizabeth Sanders was awarded the St. Louis Section Scholarship. Sanders is an undergraduate student in civil engineering
  • Dr. Islam El-adaway received the Thomas Fitch Rowland Prize. El-adaway is the the Hurst-McCarthy Professor of construction engineering and management
  • Dr. Joel Burken was named Outstanding Faculty/Practitioner Advisor. Burken is Curators’ Distinguished Professor and chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
  • Jeremiah King, a 2006 S&T graduate in civil engineering, received the Young Engineer Award.

Missouri S&T competes in Region 7, which includes Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri.
