The International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction published a paper by three S&T faculty members in psychological science titled “Just Sit Back and Watch: Large Disparities between Video and Face-to-face Interview Observers in Applicant Ratings.”

The authors are Dr. Denise Baker, Dr. Devin Burns and Dr. Clair Reynolds Kueny, all assistant professors.

Their study found that people who watch a job interview through a video-mediated communication tool such as Zoom rate the candidate substantially lower than those who watch the same interview in-person.
