This Thursday, September 10th at 8:00pm, light a candle near a window to show your support for suicide prevention, to remember a lost loved one, and for the survivors of suicide. Stop by Havener from 11:00am-2:00pm to pick up a flameless candle, suitable for use in campus housing. Not able to stop by Havener? Use your own candle or a candle app on your phone.

Please take a picture of your candle and put it on social media with the hashtags #WorldSuicidePreventionDay and #bethere.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity to take a minute to reach out to someone in your life. Sometimes people do not intervene when they see someone struggling, because they worry they will make it worse. Evidence suggests that this is not the case. The offer of support and a listening ear doesn’t increase distress, but reduces it.
