From mid-September to mid-October, various Missouri S&T student groups and initiatives will offer educational opportunities to the community about Hispanic cultures and identities. The events coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month, observed in the U.S. Sept. 15-Oct. 15.
The public is invited to the following events that occur during the month-long celebration. More information, including Zoom link locations, are available through the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Facebook page at facebook.com/SHPESandT.
SDI is also offering Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff several training opportunities during the month. Facilitated allyship discussions are available in 30-minute sessions that can help participants understand allyship as a concept and how to apply it in their lives. A Diversity 101 training session can serve as a primer to diversity and inclusion concepts. The presentation includes basic definitions, an overview of inclusion-related concepts and case study practice. Find more information about Missouri S&T student diversity initiatives at sdi.mst.edu.
Additional events will be announced throughout the month. For more information, visit the SHPE Facebook page at facebook.com/SHPESandT or Instagram at instagram.com/shpe_sandt.
