Senior compliance manager joins sponsored programs

The office of the vice chancellor for research and graduate studies welcomes Matthew A. Mertz as the new senior compliance manager at S&T. He began his duties on Aug. 10.
Mertz will primarily manage compliance issues relating to the following:
- Conflict of interest
- Institutional Review Board
- Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
- Institutional Biosafety Committee
- Export controls
- Risk assessment, training and process development.
Mertz retired from the U. S. Army after 26 years of service. His most recent assignments were as accreditation manager for the U.S. Military Police and the command inspector general of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence at Fort Leonard Wood.
He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice form the University of Central Missouri and a bachelor’s degree in criminology from The Ohio State University.
