Phishing email hits S&T

A phishing email was circulated to Missouri S&T email addresses today (Tuesday, Aug. 25). The email subject line contained “inv# 67477, 98277 and 35667 has been paid,” and the body of the email contains a phrase of “inv# 67477, 98277 and 35667 has been paid by EFT to your designated Bank” with a button link that reads ‘VIEW INVOICES AND REMITTANCE COPY.

Do not respond or click the link within. Please delete the email as this phishing attempt has been reported to IT Security.

All students, faculty, and staff are reminded to exercise a healthy skepticism when receiving suspicious emails and follow the proper process to report spam and phishing attempts.

The IT staff thanks the many S&T students, faculty and staff who properly reported the phishing attack and did not click the link or enter their information.
