Missouri S&T’s student financial assistance department is seeking departments to participate in the 2020-21 Federal Work Study and Institutional Work Study Programs. To request student workers, please complete the Federal Work Study Requisition Form online by Friday, July 31.

Federal Work Study Program

By submitting a requisition, it does not guarantee you will be assigned a work study student because students choose where they would like to work. Feel free to request specific students on the form. This is not a guarantee that you will be assigned a particular student, as the student has to be eligible for the work-study program and be awarded. However, the staff will do their best to assign requested students to requested departments. If a student was not awarded Work Study for the next year, you can ask them to email Robert Berkelman, student financial assistance coordinator, at robertb@mst.edu to add them to a wait list.

Institutional Work Study Program (IWP)

In addition to the Federal Work Study Program, you may also participate in the IWP program. It is a program for incoming at-risk students who also have a high financial need. You, as the supervisor, will act as a mentor to the student and guide them toward completion of their first year. Students will be required to complete tasks throughout the year that are designed to help them navigate their first year at S&T. The IWP has been shown to improve retention and success of participants when given the support and encouragement by departments and supervisors. There will be more students in the program this year, so positions are needed for the students.

You may participate in both work study programs if you choose. If you do so, please submit separate online forms and indicate which position you would like for IWP.

Access the form.
