Missouri S&T is well-known for providing well-trained STEM educators to the state’s public schools. To continue that accomplishment, the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business has established a Rural Teachers Scholarship Fund to lessen the financial needs of selected teacher education and certification students who will serve the state in rural areas with a teacher shortage and with below-average salaries.

These students may need:

  • Stipends to cover transportation costs for field experiences
  • Fees for background checks and state-required examinations and other compliance requirements
  • Financial assistance during the 16-week unpaid student-teaching semester
  • Support for professional development opportunities such as Project Lead the Way workshops or the Space Foundation’s Space Symposium, two national programs that enhance STEM teaching skills.

To learn how you can assist these dedicated future teachers, please contact Kristen Gallagher, executive director of development for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business, at 573-341-6050 or gallagherkr@mst.edu.
