Blended course that meets 2-2:50 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays with online instruction on Fridays
A study of the development of music with emphasis on understanding music forms and the role music has played in the various historical periods. No previous music experience or the ability to read music is necessary.
Meets 9:30-10:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
An introduction to the language of music. Students will learn notes, rhythms, chords and beyond as they take their first steps in composition and analysis of music. Together we will explore and begin speaking the language of music.
Blended course that meets 1-1:50 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays with online instruction on Fridays
Explores the history of European and American music from the late 18th century through the dawn of the 20th century. Students will learn about the great composers of the Classical and Romantic eras (including Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Wagner), their major compositions, and the historical and political context in which they lived and worked. Assignments will consist of self-guided listening exercises, class discussion and projects.
