The Foundry is Missouri S&T’s newest High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster. The goal of establishing a HPC by April 1 was achieved. Missouri S&T opened access to “The Foundry” for a limited set of research faculty in March for testing and evaluation.
General campus access to the new facility began on April 6. Regional university researchers may begin requesting access to the Foundry on May 1.
The Foundry is jointly funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Missouri S&T. It replaces The Forge, S&T’s previous-generation general use computational cluster. Decommissioning of The Forge will begin in August.
Initially, it uses 143 AMD Ryzen 2 based computer nodes and 6 nvidia GPU nodes. The new cluster will provide a 350% computational capacity increase locally, and will also be a regional resource for other Missouri universities. Learn more about The Foundry.
