Meeting the goal of establishing a new High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster by April 1, 2020, Missouri S&T opened access to “The Foundry” for a limited set of research faculty in March, 2020 for testing and evaluation.

The Foundry has been jointly funded by the NSF and Missouri S&T. The Foundry will replace The Forge, S&T’s previous generation general use computational cluster. Decommissioning of The Forge will begin in August, 2020.

Initially, the Foundry utilizes 143 AMD Ryzen 2 based compute nodes and 6 nvidia GPU nodes. The new cluster will provide a 350% computational capacity increase locally, and will also be a regional resource for other Missouri universities.

Missouri S&T general campus access to this new facility began Monday April 6th, 2020. Regional university researchers may begin requesting access to the Foundry on May 1st, 2020.
