The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) Safety Committee is hosting a student competition to increase awareness of Missouri S&T’s safety culture. Student teams are encouraged to submit an entry for a marketing campaign (such as a poster, QR code or electronic media distribution) that will promote S&T’s safety culture.

The campaigns are due to environmental health and safety at ehs@mst.edu by Wednesday, April 15.

Teams can include graduate and undergraduate students working together in a common workplace, such as a research laboratory, teaching lab or student design team. The marketing campaign should be broad enough to extend beyond the teams’ laboratory or area and to all science and engineering activities at S&T. The winning marketing campaign will be eye-catching, educational, simple and clearly communicate what constitutes a safety culture.

The winning team will receive a $500 prize and a traveling trophy for their laboratory or area. Second- and third-place teams will receive $400 and $300, respectively. Honorary mention prizes of $100 will go to several teams. Funds are provided by CEC department chairs to recognize the importance of a safety culture at S&T. The winning tea’s campaign will roll out next fall semester.

The minimum print or display size for campaign materials should be 8.5 inches by 11 inches but no bigger than 11 inches by 17 inches. For more information or to submit an entry, please contact environmental health and safety at ehs@mst.edu.
