Phelps County will participate in the 2020 statewide tornado drill, and residents should hear sirens at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3. In case of severe weather on the day of the drill, the drill will be moved to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5.
Each year, the National Weather Service chooses the date of Missouri’s statewide tornado drill. This is an opportunity for Missourians to practice their sheltering plans and ensure readiness in case of a severe weather emergency while at home, work or school.
Ready.Gov advises that individuals “Go to a safe room, basement, or storm cellar. If you are in a building with no basement, then get to a small interior room on the lowest level. Stay away from windows, doors and outside walls.”
