Passing of Wayne Cogell

Dr. Wayne Cogell, professor emeritus of philosophy and former associate dean of S&T’s College of Arts and Sciences, died Feb. 16 at age 80. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Cogell earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1969. He joined S&T’s faculty in 1967 as an instructor of philosophy, became a professor of philosophy in 1983 and retired in 2000.
Cogell held many leadership roles during his tenure at S&T, including chair of philosophy and liberal arts; director of the Missouri London Program; director of the General Honors Program, assistant dean, interim dean and associate dean, all in the College of Arts and Sciences.
