Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been elevated to a fellow of the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) in the United Kingdom.
Fellowship is granted by the membership and professional standards committee to members who have influenced engineering policy, made a vast contribution to safe, environmentally sustainable operations engineering, and have specialist technical knowledge that they have shared with others and used for the benefit of the public.
Originally established in 2000 through the merger of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, Institution of Plant Engineers, and Bureau of Engineer Surveyors, the 16,000 members of the SOE inspect, maintain and manage the equipment and machinery that keeps people and businesses safe on a daily basis.
