Malone co-authors book on technical editing

Dr. Ed Malone, professor of English and technical communication, is the co-author of Technical Editing: An Introduction to Editing in the Workplace, recently published by Oxford University Press. His co-authors are Donald H. Cunningham and Joyce M. Rothschild, both of Auburn University. Several S&T alumni contributed to the book.

Amra Mehanovic, an alumna of S&T’s technical communication program, created 17 visuals for the textbook. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2017 and a master’s degree in 2019 from S&T. Ten alumni with degrees in technical communication are featured in “On the Record” boxes in the textbook. Alumni contributors include:

  • Amy Ketterer,  editorial assistant for the U.S. Geological Survey, who earned a bachelor’s degree in 2014
  • Elizabeth Richardson, lead technical writer for Schneider Electric, who earned a master’s degree in 2007
  • Shubhangi Vajpayee, technical writer for Amazon Web Services, who earned a master’s degree in 2013
  • Misty Adams, technical editor for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, who earned a master’s degree in 2013
  • Amruta Ranade, senior technical writer for Cockroach Labs, who earned a master’s degree in 2017
  • Matt Peaslee, lead project manager and scrum master for Mastercard, who earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012
  • Blake Williams, technical writer for Automatic Systems, who earned a master’s degree in 2015
  • Elizabeth Roberson, assistant teaching professor at Missouri S&T, who earned a master’s degree in 2011
  • Tara Bryan de Canellas, technical editor for the U.S. Navy, who earned a master’s degree in 2007
  • Emily Seals, technical editor for graduate studies at Missouri S&T, who earned a master’s degree in 2016.
