Nearly 100 middle and high school students will participate in the Region 8 National History Day Competition 9 a.m.-noon Friday, Feb. 21, in the Havener Center. The event is free and all are welcome to attend.

S&T’s history and political science department is hosting the event. S&T students, faculty and staff from several departments will serve as judges. The theme is “Breaking Barriers in History.”

Participants include students from schools in Camdenton, Dixon, Maries County, Rolla, St. Clair and St. James. Competition categories include individual or group performances, exhibits, websites, documentaries and papers. The top three winners in each category will advance to the state competition, which will be held in Columbia in April.
