The vice chancellor for research’s office will host a workshop titled “Beyond NSF: A Workshop About Writing Proposals to Other Federal Agencies” 1:30-2:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. RSVP to Maria Shaub, senior grant writer, at shauba@mst.edu by Wednesday, Feb. 26.

At the workshop, S&T faculty members who have served in and successfully sought funding from federal agencies besides the National Science Foundation will offer their thoughts on how these agencies differ from NSF. Federal agencies covered will include:

  • Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Department of Defense (DOD)
  • Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
  • National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Topics will include how to communicate with them, how to work with them, and how to structure proposals. The topic will be of great interest to S&T researchers since the funding available from these other agencies dwarfs the amount available from NSF.

A “We dig research event” will immediately follow in the Meramec-Gasconade Room of the Havener Center. Attendees can continue their research conversations with networking and refreshments.
